Bali – Our vacation from Southeast Asia

Bali provided a nice break from the the hustle and bustle of the major cities in Southeast Asia. We first stayed at a guest house in Ubud which was recommended by a close friend. Each morning we had banana pancakes and fruit smoothies while enjoying the view over a small rice field. Ubud is touristy enough to have a Mexican joint which satisfied our growing hunger for tacos!

Ubud also has a Monkey Forest. It is amply named as 100’s of little monkeys call the place home. If you are crazy enough, you can buy bananas to feed them but you risk a mob of monkeys leaping on you to grab them! They are even capable, with their tiny creepy hands, to turn your pocket inside out!

The Gili Islands were the highlight of our trip to Bali. They are made up of 3 tiny islands. We opted to stay at Gili Tarawagan. It’s small. You can bike around the entire island in 45 minutes. There are no motor vehicles and the only thing to do is lounge at the beach.
